Not everyone that calls themselves a website developer is one. The may know a lot more than do you about building a website, and they may turn out some perfectly acceptable websites, but can they write website code? I can so choose me if you want a website that is truly built for your needs.
WordPress Websites
For those who do not know, WordPress is a "content management system". It makes adding and editing website content possible without writing code. And it is highly extensible for tailoring your site to your needs. And it is free.
Often, maybe more often than not, a WordPress website needs help to work as is best for those who will be maintaining the website. That's where custom code comes in.
I have been working with WordPress and its generally compatible cousin, ClassicPress, for a very long time. When a WP theme or plugin simply cannot do what you need, I can create custom versions specifically for your website.

The Basics
I am well versed in the core code languages that make a website tick:
- HTML generates the content that you see on the screen.
- CSS tells the website how it should look.
- PHP communicates with the web server that stores your data.
- JavaScript open and close and all kinds of user interactions.
Knowing the basics is key to building a truly custom website.
Shopify, Liquid, and Jekyll
Although my specialty is WordPress/ClassicPress, this website is created using a combination of Jekyll, a static site generator, and Liquid, a web page templating language, compiled by and hosted for free by GitHub Pages.
I would not recommend this for the average website owner but I chose this option to challenge myself and to prove right the above statement that knowing the website basics thoroughly is half the battle.
Also, the Liquid templating engine is used by Shopify e-commerce websites. So let me know if you need help with your Jekyll blog or if you want a custom theme for your Shopify website.

Complete Website Management
Services include software updates, content writing, post creation, and image editing.
Owning a website is more work than simply paying your web host bill. Some content may need to be freshened up regularly and new content added, images should be properly managed, including correct sizes and metadata, and security updates should be made soon after their release.
If having these tasks piled onto your plate is too much then I can help with a maintenance program. And if you don't have time to write new content when necessary then I can do that too.
